NEW – Match Statistics Flow Endpoint
This update introduces the new Match Statistics Flow endpoint to the AFL API, available at:
- /matches/matchId/statistics/flow
This endpoint provides a timecoded breakdown of every occurrence of chosen metrics in a given match. The response can be filtered by the usual options:
- Metric
- Period
- Zone
- Squad
This endpoint also provides an 'orderBy' parameter to reverse the response and return the latest metric occurrences first.
Paging
This endpoint includes paging controls to allow the return of a whole match response where it is bigger than the maximum response size. The majority of statistics flow requests will fit within a single page, but when they don't the response contains information about which page you've received and how many more pages are available.
Availability
The Match Statistics Flow endpoint returns data for all AFL Premiership and AFLW matches and supports live match updates.
It is available to API Accounts that are licensed to use the Match Transactions endpoint.
Restricted Metrics
The following metrics (and their derivatives) are not available from the the Statistics Flow endpoint as they are generated from a set of factors that makes them incompatible with a flow endpoint.

- METRES_GAINED
- PLAYER_RATING
- RANKING_POINTS
- TIME_ON_GROUND
- TIME_REMAINING_PCT

Match Statistics Leaders Endpoint - more stoppage metrics
This update adds the following stoppage metrics to the leaders endpoint:
- CLEARANCE_CB
- GROUNDBALL_GET_PREC
- HITOUT_TO_ADVANTAGE
Shot At Goal Expected Score Metrics
This update adds 6 new metrics that return the expected scoring from set or non-set shots. These are available at both Player- and Squad-level.

First Possession Outcome Metrics
This update adds three metrics that return the number of first possessions by the clearance outcome. These are available at both Player- and Squad-level.
